Obesity affects many areas of life
and lifestyle. It is implicated in anxiety, depression; stress disorders, substance use and relationship issues. Overeating or binge eating can be used as a coping strategy in times of stress or in order to cope with trauma or grief.
Therefore when you are making significant life changes it is beneficial to include psychological support.
Individually developed interventions aimed at introducing a range of coping strategies, changing responses to old habits and providing support for maintaining new ones allows people to successfully consolidate lifestyle changes.
Catherine is a registered psychologist with a specialist interest in addictive behaviours and mental health. She graduated as a psychologist in 1983, attaining registration in 1986 and has been working in Mental Health since this time
Her methods of support are primarily cognitive and behavioural and client centred with the use of motivational strategies
